Mothers have known for years what studies are now showing: a good bowl of chicken noodle soup really does make you feel better when you have a cold. Chicken noodle soup is also packed with electrolytes that may help you stay hydrated which is key to recovery. Plus, soup’s salt, steam and heat can also help thin mucus, making it easier to expel, and soothe irritated passageways in your nose and throat. Lastly, many of the ingredients in soup contain immunity-boosting antioxidants that may lead to a speedier recovery.
